Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Callmata. By registering a family, entering with a family code, or otherwise using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Callmata.
Demo status
Callmatais currently a portfolio / demonstration project, not a commercial product. It is fully functional, but we may reset, wipe, or take down data at any time without notice, and we make no commitment to keep the service running or to support it long-term. Please don't use it as your family's only or primary way of reaching each other, and avoid entering real phone numbers or PINs you use for anything sensitive elsewhere. Treat anything you register here as disposable.
What Callmata is
Callmata is a private video-calling space for a family or household. A registrant creates a family code, adds members, and members enter with their name and a PIN to call each other. Calling someone sends a browser push notification and/or a text message to nudge them to join.
Callmata is not an emergency service. Do not rely on it to reach someone in an emergency, and do not use it in place of calling 911 or your local emergency number. We do not guarantee that a call alert, push notification, or SMS will be delivered, or delivered in time.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old to register a family or be the point of contact ("head of household") for a family. If you add another person — including a minor — to your family's roster, you are confirming that you have the authority and any necessary parental or guardian consent to do so, and that the information you provide about them is accurate.
You're responsible for everything that happens under your family's account: keeping your family code and PIN confidential, and for the accuracy of names and phone numbers you add to the roster.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Callmata for anything illegal, or to harass, threaten, or impersonate anyone.
- Use the registration, recovery, call-alert, or push flows to send unwanted messages to phone numbers you don't have permission to contact.
- Try to bypass rate limits, CAPTCHA, or other abuse protections.
- Attempt to access another family's roster, calls, or data, or probe the service for security vulnerabilities without our permission.
- Reverse-engineer, resell, or use the service to build a competing product.
We may suspend or terminate a family's access, with or without notice, if we believe these terms have been violated or the account is being used abusively.
Third-party services
Callmatarelies on other companies to work: Daily for video and audio, Textbelt for text alerts and verification codes, Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection, and Vercel and Upstash for hosting and storage. Standard message and data rates from your phone carrier may apply to texts you receive. We don't control these providers and aren't responsible for their outages, delays, or errors, though we'll do our best to work around them.
The service is provided "as is"
Callmatais offered on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or fit for a particular purpose. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, and — as noted above — this is currently a demo project rather than a maintained product.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Callmataand its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including a missed call, a delayed or undelivered alert, or lost data — arising from your use of the service. Because Callmata is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount (if any) you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Your responsibility for use of the service
You agree to be responsible for, and to cover reasonable costs arising from, any claim or dispute caused by your misuse of Callmata, your violation of these terms, or information you provided (such as adding a phone number you didn't have permission to text).
Children
Callmata is meant for use by families, set up and managed by an adult. It is not directed at children, and children do not register or manage a family themselves — a parent or guardian adds them to the roster. See our Privacy Policy for more on how we handle that information.
Ownership
The Callmataname, logo, and the service itself belong to us. Using the service doesn't give you any ownership over it — just permission to use it for your family's private calling, personal, non-commercial purposes.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the current version here and update the "Last updated" date below when we make material changes. Continuing to use Callmata after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Your State], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
